Why join Marshall in this role?
The Senior Procurement Manager will be key in driving the strategic procurement for critical product categories. This is to create value through establishing key partnerships outside of Marshall, improving our process interacting with Marshall key stakeholders and achieving best in class value for money.
You will lead a team of Senior Commodity Managers and develop a strategic approach to support product standardisation across global market. Improve procurement processes across the global organisation for both inventory and non-inventory items and drive procurement savings.
Key responsibilities in this role include:
- Leads the global strategic sourcing efforts for direct material for Marshall Land Systems globally (Europe and North America)
- Identifies cost savings opportunities, coordinates and facilitates their implementation to contribute to Marshall Land System's cost reduction target
- Develops, enriches and drives commodity strategies to support product standardisation across global markets
- Leads the efforts of the Commodity team in terms of strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contracting, and relationship management
- Work with the sales and business development team to establish material cost that will be used for customer commercial offers
- Plays an integral role in the establishment of the new supply-chain in Canada, aligning with the business strategy and objectives, and with the development and launch of our standardised product range
- Is responsible for the management, development, learning and coaching of the Commodity Management team - including the introduction of Key Performance Indicators and individual objectives
- Reports to the Head of Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics, providing status updates on the cost reduction initiatives, and implementation of other internal projects
- Sets the standards in supplier relationship building and management practices aligned with the strategic priorities of the firm - ensuring the supplier base meets quality and delivery requirements and ensuring adherence to standards, policies and practices
- Facilitates the implementation of internal improvement projects, such as policy, processes and procedures updates
- Establishes and maintains close relationships with our Engineering, Quality, MSS, Finance, Project Management and Business Development functional teams
- Aligns supply-chain decisions by being receptive to marketplace changes and needs arising from other business departments
- Interprets data to generate insight and further improve commodity strategy and team performance
- Leverages the Group's corporate agreements and resources to drive cost improvements in freight and material spend
- Ensures use of preferred and Low Cost Region (LCR) and/or Best Cost Region (BCR) suppliers
- Drives information based Insourcing/Outsourcing decisions and associated business cases
- Drives supplier consolidation and rationalization where applicable
- Coordinates visits to the supply-base for sourcing or performance management activities (International travel required)
Apply if you have most of the following:
- Significant Strategic Procurement experience
- Proven line management experience
- In-depth category management and supplier relationship (SRM) experience
- Proven track record of category strategy development and implementation in manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of delivering cost saving initiatives
- Understanding of UK/EU procurement legislation (Canada beneficial but not essential)
- Good working level of Microsoft Office suite and other analytics tools beneficial
- Preferably experience of IFS or working with other ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Experience setting up partnership, long term and framework agreements
- Excellent understanding of contract law and ability to negotiate contract terms
- MCIPS or similar qualification
