Under the guidance of the Distribution and Ward Stock Services Lead supervise the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy Distribution and Ward Stock Services team in line with Trust policies, ensuring safe and secure storage, and supply of medicines at all times to provide effective, timely and high-quality patient centred service is always provided.

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff and workload of the Pharmacy Distribution team on a day-to-day basis to ensure a safe, effective, timely and high-quality patient centred service is always provided.



Participates in audits, both internal and external, including Government lead Inspections of services and facilities by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in relation to the Departments Wholesaler Dealers Authorisation (WDA ) ensuring continued maintenance of current licenses within Pharmacy.

To oversee all aspects of administration involved with the Pharmacy Distribution and Ward Stock at North Bristol NHS Trust.

To be responsible for all aspects of HR and recruitment (including but not limited to staff appraisals, sickness absence management, capabilities and disciplinary procedures and processes as required by the Trust).

The Pharmacy Department within the Brunel building is modern, with excellent facilities, and currently requires staff to be available to work shifts between the hours of 08:00 - 19:00 from Monday to Friday, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9-17.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist to provide pharmacy homecare and procurement services across the South West.

The role will form part of a small team with Quality Assurance, Data Analyst and Administrator colleagues, delivering focused work agreed at a regional level, but in line with National strategic objectives.

• Working in conjunction with regional NHS hospitals to provide assurance of the safe procurement of medicines which sit outside the scope of the Commercial Medicines Unit and NHSE contracting
processes.
• Providing support for regional primary care procurement functions.
• Providing regional activity analysis influencing national objectives such as audit of wholesaler performance and national eCommerce uptake.
• Working in conjunction with regional NHS organisations to switch homecare suppliers when necessary, conduct associated compliance audits and financial analysis.
• Providing training for individual Trusts to optimise the use of Exend Plus and future digital enhancements.
• Delivery of training, such as core content of the internationally recognised Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) curriculum, in turn promoting best practice aligned to national agendas.
• Attendance at SPM sub-groups such as clinical pharmacy managers and MSO networks.
• Ensure all work undertaken minimises risk and maximises patient safety associated with the purchase of medicines and services.
• Keep up to date with appropriate regulations pertaining to procurement of medicines, including knowledge of Public Procurement regulations, Good Distribution Practice and Good Clinical Practice.
• Implement best practice standards for procurement of medicines in the NHS through the development of guidance, audit, training, mentoring and advice.

An opportunity has arisen for an Interim Director of Procurement for Bristol and Weston Procurement Consortium which provides all procurement support to both University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT).

BWPC is a team of circa. 50 procurement professionals and manages a spend of circa.£500m on behalf of its consortium partners. We are in the midst of implementing SAP as a new procurement system across both Trusts and are looking for an Interim Director to lead the team through this period of change whilst providing business as usual support to our partners in the delivery of their strategic aims and operational compliance and savings targets.

In this role the successful candidate will :
• Lead a modern purchasing and supply organisation that is focused on delivering benefits from service consolidation and the purchasing power of the two acute trusts, regional procurement network and the wider NHS Supply Chain arrangements.
• Maintain a strategic focus that is centred on the long-term goals for delivering a “best in class” supply chain and that raises the standards of NHS procurement
• Organise and manage the resources within the team to deliver against the recently issued Procurement Strategy which was developed in support of the strategic priorities of each of the Acute Trust partners
• Improve on key performance indicators for the service in line with the nationally established core measures.
• Be accountable for the financial management of the Purchasing Consortium’s c£2.7m operating budget, rebasing annually to determine the apportionment of costs for member organisations to fully represent the service provision
