We are looking for the right person to lead in Creative Media. They will be enthusiastic and confident in areas such as photography and filmmaking, have a relevant qualification and can demonstrate that they have a track record in using these technologies. They will be expected to lead lessons and one to one sessions in Creative Media as well as supporting in school events, documenting life and events at St Joseph’s in photographs and film and assisting colleagues within the classroom. They will be part of a dynamic and supportive Creative Arts team who are known for having big plans and working collegiately.
Reporting to the Head of Creative Arts, the role will include: • The promotion of teaching and learning and interest in the media
• Development and support of students using media resources
• Supporting staff in recording and evidencing student work including management of photography and media video and music files
• Working with the Head of Creative Arts, Pathway Leaders and Class Teachers in developing arts-based events and productions
• Providing creative ideas and solutions within the team to support growth and development of teaching and learning within the department • Providing media support for school meetings when required, including visuals for the half-termly reflection
• Providing weekly social media updates for Instagram, X and Facebook
• Key accountabilities of an HLTA
We welcome applications from qualified HLTAs or unqualified (and prepared to undertake HLTA training), with relevant experience. All applicants must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in media. Our students are aged 5-19 years, with complex learning disabilities and social communication and behavioural issues. Mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff. You will need to be compassionate and flexible with a calm and positive attitude and want to help our students to fulfil their potential. Hours of work each week during term time and inset days are Monday 08.30am-16.00pm, Tuesday - Thursday 08.30am – 16.15pm and Friday 08.30am – 15.45pm plus 30 minutes per week that can be worked flexibly to suit operational needs (with a 30-minute unpaid break each day). This role is for 38 weeks term time plus 5 CPD days.

To create and manage the overall communications calendar covering all college channels, touchpoints and audiences. Responsibilities

To lead and manage College communications and marketing activities including:

Communications

• To support the Assistant Principal, Communications in developing and implementing the communications strategy
• To produce and manage an annual communications plan and corresponding communications calendar incorporating all College channels, touchpoints and audiences. This should include all owned channels, and paid media where appropriate
• To be the primary contact for all student and parent communications distributed by the College
• To support the Assistant Principal, Communications in ensuring internal communications are optimized and constantly seeking ways to improve
• To implement a process for gathering regular feedback from staff, students and parents on College communications, and make recommendations for improvement to SLT
• To work with the Digital and IT team to monitor and update the communications tools (portals) in relation to feedback

Marketing

• To work with the Digital Marketing Officer to develop a social media strategy, with a view to growing our channels and defining key roles per platform

• To keep records and regularly audit Departmental activity on social media
• To work with the digital marketing officer to set up, test and report on campaigns across social media and extend reach to potential students, influencers and stakeholders

Sitting within the Communications Team, with a dotted line into the Children's Additional Needs and Disabilities Service, you will play a key role in the production of high-quality and strategic communications to key stakeholders and partners, including:

• Working with strategy leaders and the CFLL communications team to plan a strategic calendar of key communications opportunities and milestones
• Drafting and sharing regular updates to parents/carers, schools and settings, partners and other key audiences related to the Additional Needs and Disabilities Strategy and related workstreams, including a termly newsletter
• Demonstrate the service improvement journey to key stakeholders and residents through regular and informative updates and case studies
• Working closely with the CFLL communications team to share key updates via corporate communication channels
• Offer strategic communications advice on internal communications within the AND service, and across CFLL to ensure professionals are informed about processes, news and transformation progress, progress is celebrated, and individuals understand their role in delivering the AND strategy objectives
• Generate engagement on the core communications channels for children's additional needs and disabilities: the Local Offer website and social media
• Responding to media enquiries quickly, compassionately and honestly, with support from CFLL Communications Managers

You will support the Media department to deliver the practical elements of their GCSE, A Level and BTEC courses. Media Studies is an incredibly popular subject and also provides our students with many opportunities to use their practical skills in whole School events such as our highly successful MUN Conference and Royal Russell Day where our Media students create content and live broadcast the event . As our Media Technician, you will assist students to produce their own media texts for their extra-curricular Media projects and supervise their use of the Media Studio and Apple Mac edit suites.
You should ideally have experience in a studio environment and have the ability to use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop to effectively edit moving image and photography. You would have the desire to work on live events as the team provide professional support to many School-run events throughout the year. You should have high levels of computer literacy, good organisational skills and be equally happy working unsupervised as well as part of a team to a high standard. This is a full-time, term-time position with the requirement to work for an additional 5 days during School holidays to support Media events. Your normal working hours of 37.5 per week (7.5 a day) will be by negotiation depending on the needs of the department’s timetable. On occasion some flexibility will be required.
