The Role:

The purpose of the role is to create and implement Cwmpas' communications strategy. You will need to be a leader in every sense, that will include leading a small comms team, leading as a subject matter expert, and leading by informing the CEO of the best approach.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy, producing high quality content that amplifies our mission and impact across all diverse areas of our work.
• Collaborate with the Head of Business Development to create compelling communications that support fundraising efforts
• Promote and embed the Cwmpas brand and messaging internally and externally, ensuring they resonate with diverse audiences and ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across the organisation and all platforms.
• Lead on policy and public relations, growing our reputation as a thought leader and influencing change for the longer term.
• Develop and manage the department's workplan and budget, including policy and public affairs strategies, campaigns, research, press and PR strategies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior key external stakeholders, with a view to identifying future visibility and impact opportunities and manage risks.
• Represent Cwmpas externally, and act as a spokesperson in the media as and when required.

Person Specification:

• You will need to be a communications expert with leadership experience.
• Have worked within the 3rd sector previously and have a thorough understanding of the challenges within the sector.
• Politically astute and aware, being able to liaise with journalists, senior officials, and politicians.
• Strategic thinkers.
• Confident in own ability and able to make decisive decisions.
• Excellent communications skills, able to present confidently.
• Experienced in digital channels and able to grow the organisations presence, audience, and awareness of its impact.

This is a remote role but candidates must be within a sensible commuting distance to Cardiff for occasional company meetings

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced communications professional to lead the Communications Team. The Head of Communication and Engagement, who will be accountable to the Assistant Director of Corporate Services, will be instrumental in developing and delivering a strategic approach to communications and engagement which supports NWSSP’s commitment to excellence and the delivery of its vision and objectives. This is a unique role within NWSSP operating at the most senior level in the organisation.

Main duties of the job
Provide the strategic leadership, specialist expertise and strategic vision to ensure that NWSSP has a high quality, comprehensive communications strategy through a Health Board Communications Team.

Lead the development and implementation of proactive and innovative internal and external communication strategies and monitor their delivery in a highly complex organisation and deliver new and innovative approaches. Ensure all communication channels (including routine publications, social media, internet and intranet) are appropriately utilised and exploited in order to maximise their contribution to meeting organisational objectives.

Lead the development of the standards for NWSSP’s branding,corporate identity and its usage. Monitor and manage the brand, including producing high quality corporate image materials for events, conferences and publications. Provide management of proactive and innovative communications within the organisation and advise and influence staff on the appropriate approach to corporate communications.

Develop and implement fast, efficient and effective internal communication process, promoting a culture of openness and proactive communication within the services.

Be responsible for compiling monthly staff briefings, liaising with senior staff as appropriate. Lead on the preparation, design, editing and production of the organisation’s internal newsletters.

About this role:

This role is a remote role (must be in England or Wales) within a supportive and friendly team.

As the Internal Communications Lead you will:

• Manage, update and monitor VS internal communication channels so that internal stakeholders (staff and volunteers) across England and Wales are informed of organisation news, successes and strategy and have a mechanism for feeding back.
• Produce, commission and edit copy adhering to all brand and style guidelines for email communications and intranet articles.
• Manage an engaging programme of webinars to update staff on new initiatives, training programmes and other key engagement activities.
• Work closely with staff across the organisation to ensure self-generated content is of a high standard, adheres to brand and style guidelines and is succinct, clear and engaging.
• Advise colleagues on complex communication messages and to form part of the wider communication team response in a major incident or crisis situation.

You will need:

• Significant experience of managing multi-channel internal communications (inc. intranet).
• Experience of writing concise, well written and engaging communications.
• Experience of reporting on key internal communication metrics.
• Experience of editing of video content.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to liaise effectively at all levels.
• Strong personal integrity, reliable under pressure and team ethos.
• Proven ability to demonstrate a commitment to Equality and Diversity, to influence people to achieve effective desired outcomes.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.

The Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of public health communications strategies and action plans.
