Follow routine maintenance schedules and procedures for the grounds and gardens, vehicles and equipment across all the Hospital sites. Carry out planned preventative maintenance in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and schedules. Assist and support the Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative /Building Manager in undertaking day-to-day maintenance of the Hospital grounds, in a way which minimises risk to self, others and complies with relevant legislation, policies, procedures. Be competent in the use of all relevant tools and equipment and work within safety guidelines current legislation and manufacturers recommendations as necessary for the completion of reactive and planned works. Identify and prioritise own workload and actively complete all documentation in a timely manner. Assist with operational tasks within the waste recycling complex as and when required. On an ad-hoc basis undertake site cleanliness and litter picking duties across all sites. Safely and correctly prepare, clean, use and store securely equipment, tools, materials and work areas leaving them in a suitable condition for future use. Hold a valid current driving licence and safely and legally drives the Trusts vehicle fleet (Including the towing of trailers) as and when required. Actively take part in the on-call rota and attends site at short notice for snow/frost clearance during the months when inclement weather may prevail. Keep the sites tidy and generally free from the accumulation of litter, leaves and debris. Inspect landscaping, footpaths and trees on a weekly basis to identify defective or dangerous areas and rectify any faults or advise Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative. Undertake pesticide spraying in accordance with statutory guidance and regulations. Assist and support the Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative/ Building Manager in project work, surveys, and other similar duties.

Role Description

• Fault finding / diagnosis on a range of PLC systems - Omron, Mitsubishi, Directo Logic
• Maintenance and repair of a range of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment including electrical panels, motors and pneumatics.
• Ensuring machine performance is kept to high levels through preventative maintenance activities
• Installation of new machinery and involvement in projects
• Keeping records of all maintenance activities
• Occasional tooling changes
• Ensuring all work is carried out in a safe manner and that HS&E standards are adhered to at all times
• To report directly to the Engineering Manager with regard to repairs / maintenance
• To regularly report any tool / consumable requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical and/or electrical engineering education (Degree/ HNC/HND)

• Desired experience working on extruders, moulding machinery, ovens, chillers.

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality and efficiency of our facilities.
Some key responsibilities include Cooler Cleaning, conducting due diligence and compliance checks for Legionella, Fire Sprinkler
Systems and Generators. Additionally, you will assist the team with general duties.



Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct weekly readings of water temperatures.
* Perform tests on Sprinkler and Generator systems.

Providing grounds maintenance services and caretaking duties across our extensive site and neighbouring fuel site to ensure it
remains clean, safe and attractive for employees, customers and visitors.

Carry out Planned preventative and reactive maintenance, including monitoring of plumbing systems to include Water Hygiene, and DHWS, CWS, BCWS and drainage to ensure compliance with required regulations and guidance. Relevant Training in Water Hygiene. Participate in an On - call Rota Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, colleagues, contractors and trust wide service users. Liaises with contractors, utility suppliers, professional parties and other service users both during normal working hours and out of hours. Provide operational advisory support to Trust staff and managers to ensure compliance with all safety standards and procedures. Advises Engineering Manager and/or Senior Hospital Staff (Duty Manager on call/Directorate Managers) on maintenance issues as required outside of normal office hours. Respond to estates related incidents and liaise with other members of the Trusts staff who request assistance Liaise with Wards and Departments to ensure requested work is specified correctly to meet the users needs, provided efficiently and completed within the agreed priority response periods. This applies to all work requests including patient critical engineering plant, equipment and building services. Advises the Maintenance Manager / Engineering Estates Manager (Operational) regarding plant or equipment failure and to request in writing the supply of goods and/or services with reference to manufacturers manuals etc. Maintain stock levels for spares and equipment Carry out panned preventative maintenance inspections and testing to ensure compliance in line with Trust procedure and statutory requirements. Refer to and understand Engineering/Technical drawings, specifications and technical manuals. Assist in commissioning of mechanical services, plant and equipment. Be prepared to work in hazardous areas, confined spaces and on contaminated equipment taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment in accordance with Trust policy and safe working procedures. Ensure that Risk Assessments and the use of operational procedures are actioned and observed by all maintenance staff. Identify and prioritise own work load and that of others when appropriate and actively participate in the operation of the performance management information system, including the completion of all paper work required by the scheme in a timely manner. Ensure the security of all plant, equipment and buildings under the jurisdiction of the Maintenance Department. Make sure that any work areas are secure when working. Ensure that plant rooms are locked at all times Assist with, and support the Trusts Engineering Officers in project work, new equipment testing and commissioning, specifications, surveys, costing and other similar duties. Undertake inspections for pre-installations and investigate services which may be required for new equipment and carry out minor installation improvement works Keep plans, electronic and hard copy records, spread sheet statistical data and ensure such records etc. are correct, updated and revised as necessary.
