The duties of this position include but not limited to:

• Starts, stops, and regulates the utilities and their system components.

Your Role as a Maintenance Operative:

HMP Addiewell have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Operative to join our FM team. You will carry out maintenance and repairs to ensure the safe and efficient running of the establishment. You will carry out all maintenance repairs, planned preventative maintenance tasks and project work in order to ensure that operational support is provided to the establishment at all times.

Working within a prison means that your work directly contributes to the safety and operational efficiency of the facility and therefore a key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with safety code and regulation. You will be expected to keep accurate records of maintenance and complete any administration actions in a timely manner. You would also be expected to be use your initiative to make decisions based on manufacturers documents, such as schematics and operational instructions.

• Dragging, raking, installing bases, home plates and pitching rubbers, laying out foul lines and playing field boundaries, repairing backstops, and mowing grass on near all MWR recreational facilities.
• Trims, edges, rakes and mows grass at all assigned MWR recreational areas and playing fields.
• Polices all MWR assigned areas, collects and disposes of trash and garbage, usually using a pickup truck or light duty vehicle to transport to disposal area.
• Operates a light duty vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, which includes weed eater, trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, push and riding mowers.
• Assist in the preparation of activities, indoor and outdoor, for special events and program support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
