We are now recruiting for a Pool Automation Maintenance Technician at our Exeter Mail Centre, Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, EX2 7XX site.
Salary: £51,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance, 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£51 per attendance) and Sunday (£102 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.

You may be eligible for a welcome bonus of £1,500**payments are made in instalments and subject to terms and conditions.

The successful candidate will be required to cover the Exeter Mail Centre shift rotation system, as outlined below with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility.

This role is a Pool position, requiring significant adaptability / flexiblity as you’ll be stepping in for other Technicians during their Annual Leave or Sick leave. Outside of these periods, your standard shift will be the day shift, typically from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday.


The Role

Shift attendance equates to 40 hours per week
- Full time.
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of automation assets through completion of effective maintenance procedures.
Key aspects of the role include:


- Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
- Performing continuous improvement activities
- Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
- Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
- Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders
- Identifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail Centre
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
About you

As an experienced multi-skilled engineer you’ll be qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 – or equivalent). Understanding Health & Safety legislation, you’ll have first-hand experience of maintaining automation equipment, ideally Programme Logic Controllers (PLC), along with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively.

You are required to have a full UK driving licence as on occasion you may be asked to travel to other sites.

Site Maintenance Operative

If you are looking for a job where no two days are ever the same and you have excellent practical skills, then we could have the perfect role for you! We are seeking to recruit an additional member to our highly regarded site maintenance team to build capacity for the expansion of our Trust from four schools, to seven.
The role will include varying aspects of facilities management making it an interesting and dynamic job. We regularly have many ongoing building improvement projects, where good construction skills are required, such as general building, carpentry, or plumbing skills. Examples of the types of projects you might be involved in include construction of fences, hanging doors, laying a concrete foundation, erecting a shed, refurbishment of classrooms, installing kitchen units and appliances.
The successful candidate will also be involved in ongoing site maintenance requirements which might include cutting grass, landscaping, painting, and decorating, site security and premises lock up, managing lettings and responding to alarm call outs. The site team need to ensure that the school sites are clean, safe, and ready for the staff and children who work and learn in them each day.
The site team work closely with the Trust Facilities Manager and Project Manager along with the leadership team to help manage the different sites and to deliver a high-quality learning environment. You will need to be adaptive, patient, and talented, a great team player and a good communicator. Self-motivation and a pride in your work will be equally vital to ensure high standards of workmanship. Where specialist skills are needed for particular jobs, training will be made available and supported.
You will need to be able to drive and have a clean driving license as we have a fleet of minibuses, a car and work vans that maintenance team use to travel between sites with the needed tools and equipment. We have schools located in Exeter, Exmouth and Barnstaple in North Devon so flexibility to go to the different sites will be needed.
We wish to employ someone for 52 hours per week, usually between 7am and 5pm, all year round on a permanent basis. There will be some overtime to support the out of hours emergency calls outs, lettings, and school events. The actual salary for this position will commence at around £27,000. You will be entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday (to be taken during school holiday times) plus bank holidays.
