About the role
The role of Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the daily inspection of all production machinery including rectifying mechanical faults, breakdowns and undertaking regular maintenance in line with the maintenance schedule. You will work as part of a small team of Engineers to maintain equipment in order to minimize machine downtime and help maximize productivity.

* Right to work in the UK
* Experienced Engineer, with a background in high speed production
* Experience in print or packaging manufacturing desirable, but not essential
* Considerable exposure to quality (Hygiene), health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting
* Relevant qualification in either mechanical or electrical engineering.
* Good overall standard of education, with minimum GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths.
* IT literate - experience of computer-based production technology. Basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
* Fluent English - ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and understand both written and verbal work instructions
Main Responsibilities
* Operate safely ensuring that the machinery is maintained in line with required health, safety, environmental, hygiene and housekeeping standards and that colleagues working on the press are operating in a safe way and are aware of and understand the required operating standards.
* Monitor records of all faults, fabrication of parts and safety devices.
* Support the installation of new machinery and work effectively with external contractors as required.
* Ensure that all machines are operating to the expected safety standards in line with their given parameters.
* Test and inspect machines and equipment and work with colleagues to eliminate production problems.
* Carry out routine maintenance checks on all machinery in line with the site maintenance schedule and relevant Health and Safety regulations.
* Conduct machine maintenance to the highest standard and report any issues promptly. Apply fixes where possible and assist with putting in place preventative maintenance measures to minimise the occurance of machine breakdowns.
* Respond to machine breakdowns promptly, undertaking fault finding and fixing breakdowns where possible.
* Work with colleagues across Production and other areas to to ensure that all print machines and other equipment are running to their targeted output.
* Help maintain engineering documentation, including maintenance records, operating procedures and work instructions.
* Assist with the upkeep of the engineering workshop, ensuring stock and stock records are maintained correctly. In the absence of the Engineering Manager, liaise with Purchasing to order machine parts from suppliers.
* Keep up to date on relevant machine technology and engineering best practices, undertaking ongoing training as and when required.
