Liaise with Community Pharmacists to encourage them to reinforce changes made, encouraging them to identify savings which can be achieved with regard to generics, dose optimisations etc. and to assist in building their relationship with the practice. Answer medicine related queries from GPs, care settings, practice staff, PALS, social care staff and the general public in a timely and appropriate manner, escalating to and involving other relevant health care professionals within the practice in the absence of national guidance or agreed protocols where needed Provide advice and support to improve the disease registers within each practice to ensure all suitable patients are identified and offered suitable treatment and monitoring for their condition. To act as first point of contact in US department and receive, coordinate and communicate information for users within the US Department and Derriford Hospital. This will include staff reporting absences/sickness. The absences will be checked against the current ultrasound rota and gaps identified to be covered. Liaise with the Ultrasound Rota Coordinator to cover gaps in service. It will also include the reporting of equipment faults and faults within the Department. This will be reported either to Estates or the equipment service provider. To keep track of stock levels and order items either via Materials Management or the Eproc system. Crosscheck when items are received and store appropriately. To cross cover the Ultrasound Rota Coordinator in times of absence and update any changes to the rotas/healthroster and link in with the Superintendent Sonographer. To provide cross cover for the existing IP US Coordinator during times of absence, this will include alternate weekend working and bank holiday cover. To create/modify the CRIS diaries to allow the Bookings team to effectively book the outpatient lists. To provide administrative support to the sonographers secondary duties and update shared spreadsheets accordingly, ie ultrasound equipment, non-medical equipment etc. To monitor staff mandatory and appraisal requirements and ensure they are completely in a timely manner. To cross check the ultrasound rotas with healthroster to ensure accuracy. To minute the monthly sonographer staff meeting minutes, as well as ad-hoc meetings that take place. To monitor and administer any Datix received. To monitor the protocols and procedure documents for ultrasound, both paper copies in the rooms and electronic versions on Q-pulse and keep them updated. To maintain spreadsheets and databases relating to the Ultrasound service. To work effectively with US Team including US Operators, including Consultant Radiologists, Radiology Registrars and Sonographers, US bookings teams, and US Rota Coordinator. To work effectively with other staff groups such as porters, ICAs, HCAs, Nurses and Imaging Management Team in order to meet service needs. To attend the Imaging Production Board daily, including weekends and bank holidays where appropriate. To establish good communication links with staff across Imaging and in Derriford Hospital. To be able to identify risks, raise concerns and report incidents according to Trust policy in an appropriate manner to the US and Imaging Management Team where appropriate. To co-ordinate the appointments and patient flow through the inpatient ultrasound scan rooms. To ensure the most effective use is made of US resources and inpatient capacity is optimised. To have an understanding of US operator skills matrix in order to organise appropriate type of examination or procedure for the operator. To engage with ward readiness arrangements. What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a experienced qualified nurse that is currently practising as a nurse specialist ideally in Gynaecology Oncology or Oncology speciality. The ideal candidate will be a qualified nurse with NMC registration and be enthusiastic about women's health. They right candidate will be motivated for change management and be resilient and skilled in leading and shaping the service. They will possess excellent compassionate and inclusive leadership and management skills.

The post-holder will be an advanced nurse practitioner and will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload (patients/service-users) and will provide highly specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group. They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, including setting of standards of care, and support in establishing evidence-based practice within Gynaecology Oncology. A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.


Based at the Royal Derby Hospital, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides a full range of services within this field to the residents of South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire as well as neighbouring communities. We are currently recruiting an additional Locum Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist to join our team.

Derby Gynaecological Cancer Centre (DGCC) is a medium sized cancer centre serving the population of South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire. Both the Derby and Burton Sites have a combined MDT with diagnostic pathways present on both sites but with Cancer level surgery performed at Derby Gynaecological Cancer Centre based at Royal Derby Hospital.

Both hospitals run busy diagnostic pathways with hysteroscopy, colposcopy, imaging services integrated at both sites. Whilst some diagnostic and early endometrial cancer surgery is performed at the QHB site the majority of surgery is performed at RDH. RDH has access to a large ITU and Step-down facilities, Support of colorectal, urological, vascular, upper GI on site. Close links are in place with thoracic and Hepato-biliary input where needed. DGCC has access to 10 theatre lists a week.
• Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of gynaecology / oncology patients.
• To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the gynaecology / oncology service.
• Teaching and training of trainee medical staff, medical students and nurses.
• Active participation in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance, audit and research
• Responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME), the appraisal process and revalidation.

In addition to any specialist interests all consultants will be involved in providing a general clinical service to the Trust.

As well as providing a high-quality obstetrics service, you will work together with senior colleagues in shaping the future of the maternal medicine service for our women and pregnant people . Maternity services are provided on the Royal Derby and Queens Hospital Burton sites. Both sites work to common protocols. The Urogynaecologyunit at Royal Derby Hospital site comprises of 3 consultants and 2 specialist nurses, there is also a team at Queens Hospital Burton. Both the units are BSUG accredited and regularly submit their data to the BSUG database with excellent secretarial support.

RDH site provides a tertiary care Urogynaecology service, with referrals from neighbouring trusts and performing laparoscopic Urogynaecology procedures (about 25 cases of lap Colposuspension and 10 Sacro colpopexies per year), and Autologous Fascial Slings (10 per year). This unit performs a huge number of different reconstructive vaginal surgeries (around 300) for prolapse, including sacrospinous fixation; Injectables (BOTOX and urethral bulking agent) for DO and SUI, joint operative work with colorectal surgeons and urologists if required and agreed through MDT meetings. ICIQ validated questionnaires are always collected pre and post operatively and submitted to audit database.

The unit has got several projects ready to undertake once the successful candidate is in post.
