The Role:

• Design and implement data and voice network solutions that meet organisational requirements using current and newly available technologies. Assess, understand and represent any changes relating to the GMCA network from information security, value for money, risk and cost perspectives.
• Deliver a high quality, highly performing network to GMCA and partners and ensure that its maintenance is completed to the highest standard.
• Develop, manage and participate in projects that benefit the organisation and evaluate the benefits/efficiency of the implementation of ICT solutions.

Main Responsibilities

• Support and deliver high quality data and voice networks throughout GMCA which enable delivery of the Digital Services Strategy.
  
• Work closely with internal clients and external partners to identify and deliver organisational technical requirements for network services. Provide technical advice to non-specialist users and support information management and technology projects that are running across the organisation.
  

• Develop, maintain, manage and co-ordinate all network related design activities, processes and resources. Ensure the consistent and effective delivery of GMCA networks with consideration to service management information systems, architectures, processes and metrics.
  
• Take responsibility for promoting, maintaining and monitoring network security and ensure that it’s at the forefront of activities.
  

• Ensure the delivery of high quality network support to meet the organisation’s objectives and service levels.

Volunteer Independent Custody Visitors

Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have strong verbal and written communication skills? Do you enjoy travelling and meeting new people?

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is looking for dedicated and extraordinary individuals to join our army of Volunteer Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) visiting police custody suites and speaking to detainees across Greater Manchester to ensure they receive fair and equal treatment under the law.

About the Role

ICVs are members of the local community who volunteer to visit police stations unannounced to make an inspection and check on the treatment and welfare of people held in police custodies across Greater Manchester. They look at a number of issues, from the treatment of detainees and behavior of custody staff, to the effectiveness of custody processes.

On arrival at the police station, ICVs are escorted to the custody area where they interview a number of detainees in their cells and complete a structured report form. For visitors’ protection, interviews are normally carried out within sight, but out of hearing, of the escorting police officer. ICV recommendations can require the police to make improvements for the welfare of detainees and, therefore, they play a valuable role in maintaining public confidence in this important area of policing.

Training

ICV’s are required to attend seven mandatory training sessions to fulfill their role. Further optional training sessions are available, for example on topics including substance misuse, mental health, interview skills, and dementia. The posts are voluntary and unpaid, but all travelling expenses are reimbursed.

Independent custody visitors play a vital role in providing the public with confidence that police treat individuals lawfully and with respect when detained in police custody. By becoming an ICV, you will contribute to a role in society as a whole by demonstrating the high standards of care shown in the detention of detainees through independent assessment.

Elegibility

Greater Manchester Combined Authority is responsible for recruiting, selecting and appointing all custody visitors. To be eligible as an ICV volunteer, you must be 18 years of age, or older, and have no direct involvement in the criminal justice system. For example, serving or retired police officers or staff, special constables or magistrates would NOT be considered for the role. Other people, such as solicitors or probation officers may also be excluded to prevent possible conflict of interests for the individual. This maintains the independence of the scheme as a whole. Appointment as an independent custody visitor is subject to a successful application and interview process.

We're searching for a Senior Leisure Attendant to join our team in Manchester!




As a Senior Leisure Attendant, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the leisure services in the development,
including swimming pool supervision, plant room operations, changing room and gym cleaning, whilst maintaining exceptional service
and standards!

What will you do?

Supervise the security and safety of the residents ensuring enjoyment in all areas of the leisure facilities.

Comply with the wet leisure PSOP (Pool Safety Operating Procedures) at all times.

React effectively to any emergencies following the PSOP and RLSS (Pool Lifeguard Qualification) guidance.

Carry out daily Health and safety inspections of the wet leisure areas.

Complete legal and preventative maintenance of the plant room including water testing, backwashing and chemical handling.

Ensure a high level of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained at all times.

Pro-actively deal with any maintenance and problems identified. To fix, repair, maintain or clean any area or problem if able to
do so (i.e. light bulb changes).

Assist in the opening and closing of the leisure facility whilst maintaining high security.

Be responsible for leisure attendant rotas

Track stock levels and keep accurate stock management records

Handle general enquiries, queries and complaints from residents in a professional manner.

Monitor the swimming pool CCTV and emergency alarm systems at all times.

Be responsible for personal safety by following the safe systems of work set in place.




What are we looking for?
Essential:

* NPLQ Qualification or RLSS Qualification
* Customer Service experience
* Previous work as a Lifeguard.
* Have an understanding of plant room operations.
* Excellent customer service skills, including dealing with difficult situations.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as other systems such as databases
or booking systems.



Desirable:

* First Aid trained
* Pool plant operations level 2
