Medical Secretary, RISE team at Whitestone Clinic, Nuneaton. Full Time 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity is available for individuals with excellent secretarial and organisational skills to join our RISE Team.

The post holder will play an important role within the RISE Admin Team, providing an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to two Consultant Psychiatrists in our RISE Service, acting as a first point of contact for service users, staff and stakeholders, exercising judgement and resolving problems. Previous Medical Secretarial experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will work within an integrated and skill mixed Admin Team for the building, providing complex admin support and coordinating the admin support required by the clinical services. You will manage the Admin Team based at Whitestone Clinic which comprises of three Team Secretaries and two Admin Support colleagues, so line management experience would be an advantage. You will be required to delegate tasks as appropriate to effectively and efficiently support clinical service delivery.

The Band 6 post is an integral function of providing telephone support and advise to Children and Young people up to 18 years’ old and their families/Carers calling 111 option two/Crisis line seeking urgent help for their mental health. The post holder will provide initial triage as well as information, support, signposting and advice about managing mental health. The post holder will be an integral part of the 111 service, providing additional clinical oversight and guidance to more junior team members and providing support to the Team Lead as required. As a senior clinician within the 111 service, they will have clinical oversight of the risk assessments, respond to urgent need for assessment and provide clinical supervision to junior team members as well as completing the quality checks required and the data pulling for the national 111 reviews
• When a person calls 111/Crisis line, the post holder provide clinical risk and mental state triage and assessment.
• Provide emotional support, onward urgent referral, transfer to 999, when necessary, for callers who need emergency and urgent mental heath support in a crisis 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
• The post holder will be expert in de-escalating crisis and supporting CYP and family/carers in distress and an emotional state.
• To work in partnership with others to assess and identify the child’s/Young person’s needs, taking into account parenting capacity, environmental as well as the child’s/ Young person’s needs.
• Using a range of interventions to empower patients’ carers and families to manage distress and crisis effectively.
• Complete urgent risk assessments as indicated following robust triage of the call in line with CWPT / RISE procedures and risk assessment policies.
• To Identify areas of need for CYP and their families and to assist their being able to access appropriate services for support.
• Champion patients’ rights, including dignity, equality, diversity, choice, and respect.
• Provide advice and guidance on mental health problems.
• To act always in such a way as to promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of CYP and their families/carers in accordance with national occupation standard.

About Us In September 2015, MacIntyre Academies Trust opened a new Academy in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, catering for children and young people aged between 9 years (Year 5) and 19 years with an autism diagnosis and/or an underlying condition that has enabled them to receive an education health and care plan (EHCP) for autistic spectrum condition (ASC) or social emotional mental health (SEMH). The Role You will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning in a class of around 9 students, working alongside a class teacher, HLTA and on occasions another TA. If you have ASC, SEMH or AP (alternative provision) experience that will be an advantage but is not required. Our current TAs come from a range of experiences; for example, parent, care homes, primary, secondary and special schools. You will care passionately about each child as an individual, be able to observe and listen and then respond to advice. You will be able to implement strategies for raising achievementacross the curriculum and be committed to your further professional development. You will be non-judgemental, resilient and unconditionally accepting. You will be confident and happy to work with children of any age or ability. All our children are currently verbal, able bodied and literate. They need support to make the most of their talents and abilities. Discovery Academy is well staffed and committed to the professional development of all; roles can be tailored to allow strengths to be shown as well as areas for development or professional interest to be experienced and understood.
