We are looking to recruit for them a team of experienced Building Health & Safety Manager to lead building safety management, on a strategic and operational level, across our high and low-rise apartment blocks and offices.

Salary and package

About the role
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the company complies with all statutory and non-statutory safety responsibilities in relation to legislation and building regulations. You will also ensure a high level of building safety across all of our developments, with the welfare and safety of our staff, residents and other building users being your top priority. We are looking for someone who has a passion and commitment towards health and safety as well as their own development within the industry.

We have an amazing opportunity for an exceptional individual with a flair for problem-solving to join our team as a Senior Decision Maker. The successful candidate will be joining the Senior Decision Making team on a permanent contract.


Purpose and main duties

The Senior Decision Making team evaluate and assess information received in the initial stages of our fitness to practise investigations to make sound decisions. They apply our Threshold Policy to decide if cases should close or be referred to our Investigating Committee. For cases that are closed, they draft those decisions. For cases that are referred to the Investigating Committee, Senior Decision Makers are responsible for deciding when a case is ready to be considered by an Investigating Committee Panel (ICP). This involves assessing the particularised allegations and evidence available to the panel. This role will require the post-holder to make high volumes of decisions autonomously, which stand up to scrutiny, and are of a high quality. In addition to this work, the post-holder will be responsible for providing guidance and case direction to case management teams, to support the delivery of high quality and effective decision-making.

Some primary duties and responsibilities include:

- Making high volumes of critically important decisions about the progression of cases pre-Investigating Committee, whilst maintaining accuracy.
- Proactively identifying and making decisions in relation to high-risk cases to ensure they are effectively prioritised and advanced to an Interim Order application where necessary.
- Identifying and assessing further information and evidence required to progress fitness to practise investigations.
- Working with the pre-ICP case management teams to ensure the accurate application of relevant sections of the HCPC’s legislation, policy and FTP protocols, through the provision of training, advice and review of decisions.
- Proactively providing feedback and learning to Case Team Managers and Operational Managers on delayed cases and those approaching decision deadlines and performance indicators.


Candidate Requirements

You will have significant experience of autonomous decision-making (preferably in a legal or regulatory environment), including demonstrable ability and understanding of applying legislation, guidance, or policies, and making evidenced based decisions. You will have a high level of written English and verbal communication skills, and an ability to use your initiative to work effectively under pressure. Your strong communication skills will enable you to work effectively within a team and with your peers, to build and maintain positive relationships and assist colleagues by sharing and applying knowledge as required. You will also be able to demonstrate sound judgement, in circumstances where you will be required to analyse high volumes of case information. This will be particularly important as you will be required to make sound, evidence-based decisions about the HCPC’s position when applying the Threshold Policy in written reports which will be sent to internal and external stakeholders.

About the role

As Audit & Regulation Manager with us, you’ll play a key role in leading and managing the Exemplar Health Care Quality Assurance Framework, supporting our company’s digital transformation, and ensuring that regulatory requirements are met in line with the CQC Single Assessment Framework.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

demonstrating a strong regulatory knowledge and role model Exemplar Health Care’s values and person-centred ethos
leading and managing the regulatory and quality assurance process
being the regulatory subject matter expert in all external regulatory requirements
undertaking regular audits and assessments to assess performance against regulatory requirements, internal standards and company policies
producing detailed audit reports following each audit and assessment and identify areas for improvement and actions to support operational internal stakeholders
undertaking digital performance reviews (on-site or remotely) aimed to drive continuous improvement
providing guidance and support to colleagues on quality assurance and governance processes.
About you

proven experience in a similar level quality or regulatory role within the health care sector (ideally a minimum of 3 years post NMC registration experience)
an ability to maintain an up-to-date and detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements
experience of undertaking regular audits and assessments to assess performance against regulatory requirements, internal standards and company policies
an understanding of MCA and DoLs processes and procedures.
