Main duties / Responsibilities - To oversee colleagues carrying out the required pre-employment health screening of prospective employees including telephone and face to face reviews to provide recommendations for managers in supporting staff with long term health conditions or disabilities. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to take up the position of band Occupational Therapist (OT) on Melissia Suite an Female Acute Inpatient ward at the Oleaster health unit in Edgbaston.

You will be based on Melissa Suite, working as a key member of that team where you will develop and deliver occupational therapy (OT) provision to a designated caseload. You will focus on occupational performance, complex mental health presentations, risk management and evaluating outcomes aligned to personalised care plans. You will implement and facilitate individual and group programmes of clinical intervention in collaboration with OT assistants, activity workers and other professionals for effective recovery and discharge.

Whilst you will be based with a specific ward team, as a member of the wider occupational therapy service there may be occasions when flexibility of location is required to accommodate clinical need. You will be working closely with the Senior Occupational Therapist, band 7 Occupational Therapist, Ward Manager, Occupational Therapy Acute Lead, Matron, and the ward multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate well and use their professional skills and knowledge to work effectively across the service, as well as displaying ability to work on their own initiative and be a committed team player.

Your new role
An exciting new opportunity as a Health & Safety Officer within Grimsby, on a full-time permanent basis has arisen. As Health & Safety Officer you will ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for driving health & safety performance across the business.

As a Health & Safety Officer you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You must also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. Key Duties include;

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health & safety management systems in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards
• Provide guidance and support to safety representatives, employees and management on health & safety matters
• Liaise closely with the site management team, to ensure thorough investigation is carried out in line with employment law following any health concerns raised
• Establish and maintain strong reporting mechanisms to monitor and analyse safety performance data
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs and initiatives to promote a safety-conscious culture
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to effectively manage potential crises or disasters
• Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive the implementation of effective safety and environmental initiatives
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health & safety activities.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a health & safety officer in a manufacturing environment
• In-depth knowledge of relevant health & safety regulations and standards
• Professional certifications in health & safety management
• Development and delivery of in-house health and safety training
• NEBOSH certificate (diploma preferred) in Occupational Safety and Health
• Proven knowledge and experience in BSI ISO45001 management and internal/external auditing
• Proficiency in using safety management software and tools
• Competence in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The post holder will assist in delivering an effective and efficient support service to the lung health check programme, to assist in the provision of quality patient care. To be the first point of contact for all clinical referrals and follow ups into the service via telephone, email, letter or other electronic systems. Establish the nature of the contact and, under supervision, identify the appropriate assistance required by the UK Mental Health Triage Scale. Manage the referral by searching clinical records, checking details and demographics, amending and updating when required. Under supervision, screen all referrals against the screening tool, identifying any immediate emergency response, signposting to the right service immediately.
