Regulatory Services have a temporary vacancy for a Enforcement Officer- Environmental Health to support the environmental health team base in Dunoon. The role will include the first time assessment of service requests, acting as a witness and support the work across a wide range of areas including public health environmental protection, health and safety and food safety. If you have an interest in protecting public health, working with people and applying standards, this could be the ideal role for you.

This is a temporary post with the opportunity to be extended and available for secondment. Through this role the successful candidate will gain valuable experience in both the wider functions of environmental health. The role may therefore, be of interest to a candidate wishing to pursue a career in Environmental Health or Public Health, or a secondment.

An rare temporary opportunity exists for an Animal Health and Welfare Officer to work within the Regulatory Services team in Argyll and Bute. This opportunity, based in Dunoon, would ideally suit applicants working in a similar role in other local authorities or agencies, or those with experience applying standard and working in the agricultural sector.

The Dunoon based post (working 3 days per week) will work across the area depending on work priorities. the post will cover duties across the Cowal, Helensburgh and Bute areas and will require extensive travel, working in colleagues, other government agencies and the agricultural sector, to secure standards to protect animal health and welfare.

Flexibility is essential as there will be occasional working early mornings or evenings , working other days to cover livestock markets and out-of-hours depending on service demand/emergencies. The post benefits from the Councils hybrid working arrangements, is suitable for secondment, and consideration will be given to relocating the base to Helensburgh, depending on the successful candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in Argyll and Bute within the Council’s Regulatory Services team in a very challenging yet beautiful part of Scotland. You will undertake the full range of environmental health enforcement, including public health and food safety, and work with the team who deal with many unique challenges including its rural geographical area, large number of private water supplies and a considerable food manufacturing and export market. There will be a requirement to manage your own district workload ensuring that environmental health standards are met and be able to travel across the area to undertake operational work. Receptionist / Health Care Assistant required for a busy General Practice

Primarily based at the Cowal Medical Practice- Dunoon, you will support the Practice Manager with general office tasks and participate in team activities including reception duties.

You should be competent at all administrative skills. A flexible attitude and good communication skills are essential. You must have considerable recent general administrative office experience. Good keyboard skills and the ability to work as part of a team are a prerequisite. Experience of Microsoft Office is imperative.

You will also be trained in Health Care Assistant duties – which include taking bloods, giving vaccinations, dealing with specimens as required by the practice and new patient medicals. You will receive full formal theoretical training and supervised practice, within the health centre environment.

A driving license is desirable as you may have to provide cover for our other practice in Rothesay.
