This post has corporate responsibility for all aspects of the operationalisation of the Trust’s financial strategy on a day to day basis. The post holder has direct line management of senior staff within the department and holds a significant standing within the organisation as a whole. The post holder will also have a key supporting role in the development of the following strategies; CIPs, operational planning, financial planning & reporting.

They will lead on the production of accurate and timely monthly financial information for reports to the Board of Directors, Board Sub Committees and other committees. They will be required to interpret complex and changing national policy and advise on the financial impact and expected duties coming out of the policy for the Trust and partners.

The post holder will lead the delivery of annual financial plans and their translation into agreed budgets across the organisation, inclusive of required CIP targets. In addition, the post holder leads on improving the development of PLICs with clinical engagement. They will also lead the information agenda to support continued operational performance.

In fulfilling this role they will be required to establish goals and standards to be achieved from a corporate financial perspective, reflective of any issued guidance both internally or given by our regulators. About the Role:As the Associate Director of Finance – Financial Planning, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Trust management with a comprehensive range of financial information essential for key decision-making. Your responsibilities will include providing information for the inclusion in the monthly management accounts and consolidating these into Board level and external reports. Working closely with the Head of Financial Services and the Head of Information, you will be a key and visible leader within the finance department and a primary contact both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Trust’s annual financial planning process, combining income and expenditure plans while ensuring alignment with workforce and activity plans.
• Oversee the Trust’s annual national cost collection submissions and manage the Trust’s managed service for costing.
• Develop and maintain internal productivity metrics to provide continuous updates on value for money and identify areas for improvement.
• Promote financial awareness and skills at all levels through finance workshops and regular financial briefings to Executive Directors and senior staff.
• Work closely with the Divisional Management Teams and the Business Intelligence function to ensure accurate and understandable financial information and advice.
• Manage the contracts with Integrated Care Board (ICB), Provider Collaborative, and wider system partners.

Responsible for raising invoices, credit and debit memos and standing charges for the relevant departments. This includes adding VAT and interest where necessary, checking all the information is correct, tracing individuals. Deal with any queries from customers and liaise with the relevant service to resolve any disputes.

Assist with the collection of outstanding invoices. This includes agreeing repayment plans with customers, monitoring arrangements and updating the system for any unpaid invoices.
