Outdoor Learning Instructor
Bangholm Sports and Outdoor Education Complex,

Salary: £19.63 per hour
Hours: variable (tertiary contract)

The City of Edinburgh Council’s Outdoor Learning Team consists of two residential centres, a city-based centre and a city facility called The Risk Factory.

Due to increasing demand for our programmes, we are seeking additional tertiary instructors to work from our base at Bangholm Outdoor Centre.

This post is an in-person instructional post and successful candidates will be deployed primarily on projects in and around Edinburgh but may include work across Scotland.

Our tertiary instructor team currently support a wide range of programmes. They include but are not limited to:

• Supervisors and Assessors for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
• Epic Adventures; a local outdoor activities programme on the edge of the Pentland Hills, mainly for upper primary learners.
• Discover! Programme; providing outdoor activities for families during the school holidays.
• Other bespoke programmes to support schools and community groups. These may include over-night duties.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Training Manager to join our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Team. They will arrange training for both our researchers and our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP), so they can have informed conversations with one-another.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), for 12 months, however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns (including spreading the same total hours over a longer time period). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Experience designing and delivery training for professional development
Detailed knowledge of the training sector and familiarity with traditional, modern and innovative training techniques.
Familiarity with the higher education and research landscape
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
