Established in 2007, the SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS) provides high quality undergraduate and graduate education expanding SMU’s pedagogical strategy to the study of society, government, and individuals embedded within an increasingly complex world. Position

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Education Track) position in Sociology to begin in July 2025. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses across several major areas of sociology.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of excellent teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in sociology. We are especially seeking a candidate able to teach an outstanding introductory undergraduate course in Sociology. Additionally, we would value the ability to contribute courses on Southeast Asia, Singaporean society, sustainability, community development, and Asian identities. Candidates should also have an established or developing track record of excellent research.

Mosaic Play Academy

Reporting to the Director of Mosaic Academy on administration and operational matters, this role is a dedicated to working closely with the team at Mosaic Play Academy to run the daily operations of the academy, be involved with parental engagement, and manage delivery and quality of the programmes on a day-to-day basis.

Operations Management:

• Oversee daily operations of the academy including monitoring and managing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with operational requirements.
• Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures.
• Ensure the quality of student care services, including academic support, recreational activities, and meal services.
• Manage the academy's facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained, safe, and conducive for all activities.

Parent Engagement:

• Foster, maintain regular and positive communication with parents or guardians, and addressing concerns, fostering a positive and collaborative relationship.
• Plan and organise parent engagement events, workshops, and meetings to enhance parental involvement in the student care community.
• Collaborate with parents to address their feedback and suggestions.
• Use feedback to make continuous improvements and enhance parent satisfaction.

Administration Task:

• Recruit, train, and supervise academy staff.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
• Manage the budget for the academy, including expenses related to staffing, supplies, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, enrolment, and other relevant data.
• Oversee the enrolment process, including admissions, registration, and orientation for new students.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the academy and attract new enrolment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. A degree from a respective institution or equivalent.
2. At least 2 – 3 years of relevant working experience in a similar role within an organisation, bonus if it’s within the education industry
3. Proficient in basic productivity tools i.e., MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
4. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and unstructured environment.
5. Committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with parents, staff, and the broader community.
7. Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing student care centres.
8. Good communication, interpersonal skills and classroom management skills
9. Organised, detailed and proactive.
